For FOREST WINTERLIGHTS at DARK MATTER Berlin, KINETIC LIGHTS transforms the monumental art hall into an immersive winter universe of motion, reflection, and light. Combining Winch M systems with disco balls and 350 Pixel Rods, the installation creates a glowing landscape of suspended trees, shimmering kinetic elements, and mirrored light compositions spread across more than 1,000 square meters.
Inspired by nostalgic winter traditions and reimagined through contemporary media art, artist Christopher Bauder merges kinetic choreography, sound, and scenographic lighting into a continuously evolving experience. Floating upside-down fir trees, radiant light canopies, and dynamic reflections envelop visitors in a poetic seasonal narrative, oscillating between contemplative stillness and festive energy.
A special highlight of the installation is the integrated 400 m² indoor ice rink, allowing guests to glide directly through the luminous forest environment. Accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack from Dutch musician Chris Kuijten, FOREST WINTERLIGHTS becomes a fully immersive journey where light itself takes center stage as storyteller, sculpture, and emotion.
