For the U.S. premiere of SKALAR in downtown Detroit, KINETIC LIGHTS provided the kinetic system powering one of the most celebrated immersive art experiences of 2024. The installation combined Winch M Pixel systems with Mirror Discs to create a hypnotic choreography of moving light and reflection suspended within a vast darkened space.

Created by light artist Christopher Bauder and musician Kangding Ray, SKALAR explored the emotional spectrum through an evolving interplay of sound, motion, and radiant light vectors. Visitors were invited to lie beneath the installation and experience an audiovisual journey inspired by the eight primary human emotions. Perfectly synchronized mirrors, shifting color palettes, and an enveloping techno soundtrack transformed the historic venue at 1001 Woodward Avenue into a deeply immersive environment where perception, emotion, and technology merged into a singular sensory experience.

Following acclaimed presentations in Berlin, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Riyadh, Detroit marked the first U.S. presentation of SKALAR, further connecting the artwork’s kinetic language with the city’s rich legacy of electronic music and contemporary culture.
